Via on the Beach was my first representational mosaic. I decided on a nude, based on a picture of plus-sized model, Via Paxton. I think we are too obsessed with thinness in our culture, and I took care to find a subject that shows that you don't need to be a size 2 to be beautiful. As with most of my representational work shading is achieved by using the printing on the bottoms of plates.
