One of the things about doing mosaics is that you can't always tell how things are going to break. Sometimes the result is a happy accident. The Superman in Great Scott was from a ceramic salt and pepper shaker set. I wanted to do a simple Superman mosaic. To do so, I needed to cut off the back of the Superman salt shaker so that it would lay down flat. When I tried to do so with the tile saw, Superman's head broke off. I struck on the idea of putting a tiki head on Superman's body. I think the result is much more interesting than a straight Superman mosaic ever would have been.
